HIRING: Gallery Assistant

LOCATION: Culver City Arts District

Billis/Williams Gallery is seeking a part-time Gallery Assistant. This is an entry-level position, approximately 20 hours per week (Wednesday-Saturday schedule). There is some flexibility on schedule, however availability for Saturday openings is highly preferred.

Qualified candidates will have experience in customer service, retail, administrative support, or other relevant job experience. Familiarity with Mac software and hardware, Google Suite, and some experience with Adobe CS or similar software is required. Candidates with a 2-year or 4-year college degree are preferred.

The Gallery Assistant assists in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the gallery. An interest in contemporary art, strong organizational and communication skills, and attention to detail are required. The position involves inventory management, marketing materials updating, database entry, assisting during installation week, and artist and gallery visitor support. We will train on gallery specific software.

Responsibilities

• Artwork database entry and updating

• General office and gallery upkeep

• Assist during show installation

• Basic website updates for new shows

• Coordinate and update PR including newsletters, email marketing, format press releases, and calendar listings

• Assist with gallery social media posts

• Assist collectors and artists in person and by email and phone

Requirements

• Degree in Art or Art History or equivalent work experience

• Basic graphic design experience

• Some experience handling artwork is preferred

• Ability to lift 20lbs required

• Strong computer skills

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize, switch gears quickly, strong communication skills, self starter and self-directed

This position is hourly and pay scale is $20-$24/hour depending on experience. Paid Internships are also available.
