“Poetry and the Senses” Fellowship Application Due 11/15

Tuesday, November 10th, 2020

A reminder that ARC’s 2021 Poetry Fellowship application is due this Sunday, November 15th at 11:59pm PST! To apply, please click here.

UC Berkeley’s Arts Research Center (ARC) is spending two years exploring Poetry and the Senses, thanks to a generous grant from the Engaging the Senses Foundation. The program is grounded in the relevance and urgency of lyrical making and storytelling in times of political crisis, and the value of engaging the senses as an act of care, mindfulness, and resistance. We support poetry in its broadest definition; our fellows have had connections with English and Comparative Literature; Theater, Dance and Performance Studies; Art Practice; Berkeley Center for New Media; Global Urban Humanities; Native American Studies; Spanish & Portuguese; Music; and Near Eastern Studies departments at UC Berkeley. Amplifying under-represented voices is part of ARC’s bigger mission. To learn more about the program, click here.

Applications to the LACE Lightning Fund are due November 20, just a little over two weeks are left, so APPLY NOW!

Applications will be reviewed by a panel of local cultural workers, artists, and members of the LACE staff. Strong consideration will be given to Black, Indigenous, POC, elder, LGBTQ+, disabled, immuno-compromised, and migrant artists.

Accepting Proposals For The 2022 Emerging Curator Program

Wednesday, November 4th, 2020

The Emerging Curator Program is designed to discover curatorial talent in Los Angeles and provides opportunities for emerging curators to partner with LACE. For the program’s seventh installment one project will be selected for presentation in spring 2022. This year, the program is accepting curatorial proposals centered on performance, rather than exhibition. Emerging Curators are encouraged to propose projects that can function as a live performance as well as be presented virtually. Proposals may be geared toward a single performance or a series of performances (keeping budget in mind.) Note: this call is specifically for curators and not artists submitting performance proposals of their own work.

Click here for more information about the Emerging Curator Program and apply.

Deadline to Submit: January 4, 2021.

FCA Emergency Grants COVID-19 Fund

Wednesday, November 4th, 2020

We are writing with a reminder that Foundation for Contemporary Arts (FCA) continues to offer one-time $2,000 relief grants through the FCA Emergency Grants COVID-19 Fund. We hope you will share this resource with artists in your community who may benefit from this grant.

FCA is accepting applications from experimental artists who have lost income from an engagement that has been canceled or postponed due to COVID-19 any time after March 2020. Financial losses will be considered holistically (inclusive of various income sources). Artists can apply with opportunities that may not have been confirmed before being canceled or postponed (e.g. if you were in conversation with a presenter but dates were not set and a fee was not decided).

Artists who are interested in applying are encouraged to read the eligibility guidelines. The application is straightforward and is not intended to be time-intensive; it requires basic contact information and a few work samples.

Eligible artists who apply and are approved by the COVID-19 Fund bimonthly review panel will receive one-time $2,000 grants. Artists are only eligible to receive one grant through this program. The program will be open through December 31, 2020.
