2025 Eudaimonia Awards

Dear MindWell Pod and Friends,

We hope you are doing well. We are devastated by recent tragic events impacting our community, but inspired by the many acts of kindness and generosity that have been inspired by these crises.  We decided a good theme for our Eudaimonia Awards this year is “The Gift of Giving.” 

Do you know caring individual(s) who are committed to bringing good to society and have made selfless contributions to helping others through direct care, service or advocacy?

Do you know someone who possesses the qualities of Eudaimonia: Generosity, Resilience, Selflessness, Dedication to the common good and society at large, Inspirational, and Commitment to long-term goals in the face of obstacles?

Volunteer Opportunity – Support Those Affected by LA Fires

As part of the Bruin Relief Initiative, USAC, GSA and the UCLA Volunteer Center have collaborated to create service events for the UCLA community to support those affected by the LA Fires. Registration is open now volunteering opportunities at Project Angel Food, Union Station Homeless Services, and Los Angeles Food Bank starting in Week 5. Transportation will be provided to and from UCLA. Help us make a difference by preparing meals, organizing donations, and assisting families in need.

The Vassar Review, an international, multidisciplinary literary arts journal, is currently looking for visual arts submissions for this year’s issue. Prose and poetry submissions are closed, but we are seeking more visual art. Our theme for the 2024-25 cycle is “Frame & Forgery.” The deadline for submissions is February 10th, 2025.

The SWC CPR & First Aid Program at UCLA is a committee under USAC’s Student Wellness Commission. Our goal is to curb the rising trend of increasing prehospital deaths around the nation by teaching basic life-saving skills to our community members! We offer high quality, low cost American Heart Association CPR, First Aid, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification classes for as low as $10.

Call for Artists: Compete for $20K Prize at 4th Annual ART 64 Competition

 Discover Wauwatosa is seeking 64 artists to participate in the fourth year of ART 64 presented by North Shore Bank, a 2-day bracket-style live painting tournament with a grand prize of $20,000. The tournament will take place in The Village of Wauwatosa (near Milwaukee, WI) on June 6-7, 2025. Last year’s event saw thousands of attendees over the two days.

The application for artists who wish to participate is available online at Art64Tosa.com, with more detailed information. The application is open to artists from across the country! All 64 competing artists receive a minimum of $100 for participation, with prize money increasing each round they advance.

During the competition, members of the public are invited to watch the paintings come to life and vote for their favorite paintings online. The artist in each pairing with the most votes advances to the next round. Paintings created during the tournament will be auctioned online using a mobile bidding platform – if sold, artists will receive 70% of sale and 30% commission will go to the Wauwatosa Parks Improvement Fund..

The deadline for applications is Friday, February 28, 2025. The selected artists will be notified by March 31, 2025. There is no cost to apply.

Both UCLA undergraduate & graduate students are eligible for the award.

Nominees have a chance to win a $50 award and an invitation to an awards dinner.

This program honors Bruins who exemplify the True Bruins values of (R)espect, (A)ccountability, (I)ntegrity, (S)ervice, and (E)xcellent (R.A.I.S.E.) & is co-sponsored by UCLA Case Management Services, UCLA Graduate Student Association, and UCLA’s Internal Vice President’s Office.
