Salon at the Triton 2024: A Premier 2D Art Competition & Exhibition

(SANTA CLARA, CA) – The Triton Museum of Art is thrilled to announce the commencement of the Salon at the Triton 2024, a prestigious 2D Art Competition & Exhibition showcasing the diverse talents of California-based artists. Aspiring and established artists alike are encouraged to participate in this esteemed event, where creativity knows no bounds.

The deadline to submit artwork is April 5, 2024.

Eligibility for participation extends to all artists currently residing in California. Submitted artworks must

be original creations completed within the last 5 years (2019 through 2024). There will be place awards in

five distinct categories: Painting, Drawing, Printmaking, Photography, and Mixed Media, as well as a

Best of Show award. The recipient of the Best of Show accolade will receive a solo exhibition at the

Triton Museum of Art during the following year.

The Institute of Reading Development is now hiring summer teachers for our reading programs for students of all ages.

Our mission is to inspire a lifelong love of reading. In these programs we combine skills instruction with the experience of reading and discussing really good books. We help our students develop strong fluency and comprehension skills.

This is a great opportunity to do challenging and meaningful work in a supportive environment. Teaching experience is valuable but not necessary, and we do not require teaching certification. We welcome your application, whether you are an upcoming or recent college grad, a graduate student, a current teacher, or looking to make a career switch into education.

Funded Residency and Exhibition Opportunity for MFA Students

LAB MFA OPEN CALL – Proposals Due March 29th, 2024
Locust Projects, Miami’s renowned alternative art space, seeks project proposals from graduate-level artists for our 2024 summer exhibition in the 625 sq ft Project Room. We welcome proposals expanding artists’ practices in concept, scale, or media, prioritizing unique methods and concepts. Projects addressing social justice issues are encouraged, with a focus on site-specificity and installation. Artists may apply individually or as two-person collaboratives, particularly those directly related to MFA studies or without prior solo exhibitions.
We emphasize our non-traditional gallery space and seek proposals that require our support. All MFA students in spring 2024 are eligible for our program, offering a $1,500 artist stipend and production budget up to $1,750. Costs cover production, materials, travel, and related expenses. Selected artists may receive additional support, including travel stipends and accommodations. Artists are expected to contribute to public programming and collaborate with Miami-based organizations. The residency coincides with Locust Art Builders, enhancing cross-disciplinary collaboration opportunities.

Call for Abstracts – 15th Annual California Cognitive Science Conference

The California Cognitive Science Conference is an opportunity for researchers, especially undergraduates, to exhibit their original work in the Cognitive Sciences. This year’s conference will take place on April 7th. Poster Presenters at the conference will be able to share their research and receive feedback from professional scientists and our broader conference audience. Submitted abstracts will be evaluated based on interest and appeal to a wide audience; scientific and professional merit; clarity; and contribution to knowledge, practices, and policies. As in previous years, we will be awarding a prize to the top poster, as selected by a popular vote by our attendees. 

Submit your 300-word or less abstract here by March 15th to be considered

You will be notified about the status of your submission no later than March 21st, 2024. If your submission is accepted, you will be able to showcase your research at Conference.

Founded at the University of California, Berkeley, our publication shares innovative critical work biannually to foster intellectual discussion among an international network of students. As art historians, we are committed to diversifying the field and developing intersectional critical analyses of the artistic canon. see/saw is especially open to considerations of art and artists that have been historically erased and underemphasized.

Navigating Insurance for Mental Health – MannMukti

We will be talking about what services are available through CAPS for UCSHIP/non-SHIP students, how to access them, and basic health insurance terminology. Join the Undergraduate Bioethics Journal at UCLA: Shape the Future of Ethical Science!

Are you passionate about the ethical implications of scientific research and medical advancements? Staff applications for the Undergraduate Bioethics Journal (UBJ) are now open! UBJ is an undergraduate journal exploring the intersection of ethics, biology, society, public health, and public policy. The Journal is staffed by undergraduate students at UCLA that publish the Journal annually during the spring quarter. We accept a wide selection of high quality works that fall under the intersectional field of bioethics—original essays, opinion pieces, editorials, book reviews, visual investigations and art. Study Historic Preservation and Conservation in Italy this Summer! 

We are still accepting applications for our summer 2024 field school in Italy. Our deadline for applications is March 15, 2024. (Please note, the deadline for enrolling through West Virginia University for credit is March 1st.)   

Now in its 25th year, with alumni from over 170 colleges and universities worldwide, SGPS is dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage. We offer students the opportunity to study and travel in Italy where they acquire hands-on experience in restoration and conservation.
