Come On Out – Summer Japan Internship

Wednesday, October 28th, 2020

We are launching Come On Out – Japan’s 6th Annual Global English Camp Summer Internship Program and extending our invitation to top Universities and Japanese high school students for a cross-cultural learning experience. Learn more at a Friday, 10/30 at 6 PM PST. or at future webinars – to be released via our newsletter.

We are currently seeking university students and recent graduates with native level English skills who are passionate about Japanese culture, gaining global experience, and mentoring others. They will be offered the opportunity to come to Japan for five weeks from mid-July to late August, 2021. Although this is an unpaid internship, the sponsor is providing certain expenses for each intern who participates in the six-week program. Airfare, lodging, meal and transportation subsidies will be provided. The program also offers optional Japanese language classes, field trips and an overnight trip. These additional opportunities are all designed to add cultural enrichment to your summer abroad experience.

UCLA Student Photographer

Wednesday, October 28th, 2020

Hi UCLA photography students, I’m looking to work with a student photographer. I’m a 5’3 new creator based in Los Angeles looking to build a petite model lookbook. In terms of aesthetic, I am a big fan of David Roemer and Amber Asaly type photography. I want this to be an opportunity for you to build up your portfolio and explore your aesthetic as well. For this gig in particular, I’m looking for a student photographer who wants to meet up 2-5 times in the next month for 30-45 minutes. I’m paying $16/hour, with coffee / pastries included, so if you’re interested, then please email me at clarissa.murra@gmail.com with your portfolio of photography so I can get to know your style. Thank you!

18th Street Arts is hiring a Sam Francis Oral History Fellow

Wednesday, October 28th, 2020

18th Street Arts Center seeks a part-time, graduate-level media fellow for media production and archiving work around the contemporary art history of Santa Monica. More info can be found here: https://18thstreet.org/employment-opportunities/

As part of our partnership with the Sam Francis Foundation, 18th Street Arts Center will work with the Sam Francis Oral History Archive to provide edited media and storytelling for both of our organizations with a specific focus on the Santa Monica arts community connected to Francis and Lapis Press. This Fellow would oversee the production of 20-30 interview clips that would be added to our Culture Mapping 90404 project, a narrative “Story Table” on our website giving an overview of Sam’s deep influence on the artist community in Santa Monica and beyond, and 2-3 mini-documentaries (5-8 minutes) that would tell the story of the art scene in LA at the time, and Sam’s impact through the words of the artists he mentored and worked with. 18th Street Arts Center would engage in a multi-tier social media and marketing campaign around the release of the videos.

MakeLA is recruiting!

Monday, October 19th, 2020

MakeLA is a new organization at UCLA that aims to connect students from the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) with the tools of the MakerSpace at UCLA. 3D printers, laser cutters, and other machines are for everyone, not just for students interested in engineering — the skills learned by working with these tools can foster creative problem solving skills and can demonstrate that with DIY projects, the sky is the limit.

Since winter quarter (2021) will be MakeLA’s pilot quarter, I’m looking for people who want to help start the organization (no experience with the MakerSpace is necessary)!

Information sessions are scheduled for Friday, October 23 at 5pm PDT and Monday, November 2 at 5pm PST. To receive the Zoom link, submit your contact information to this form (https://forms.gle/hBKtFVxfXdo1QcLa9).

Applications are due to this form (https://forms.gle/g4CbbMxNdW1cQyTv5) on Friday, November 6 at 11:59pm PST.

Interview invitations will be sent out no later than 5PM PST on November 13.

If you have questions don’t hesitate to email me at ethanmc@ucla.edu

Looking forward to meeting you!
