Metamorphosis: The Art of Transformation

About this exhibit: How does the art we create reflect our own personal growth? As artists and individuals, we are in a constant state of transformation. Our lives continue to shift and evolve with every season, and the work we make tends to mirror these changes. For many of us, our art is a reflection of the lives we live, and often serves as a deeper extension of ourselves. Through art, we are able to visually communicate our transformative states of being. For this exhibit, we are seeking work that reflects personal growth and evolution across a wide range of visual mediums.

Deadline: August 14, 2021

Lois Lambert Call for Up-and-Coming Artists in Los Angeles

Deadline: September 7, 2021: 5pm PST

Exhibition

At Lois Lambert Gallery we support the pursuit of the arts as a career. We have seen how COVID-19 has made it even harder for young artists to get started. We want to provide the platform to encourage them continuing a career in the arts. We will be giving up-and-coming artists from the Los Angeles area the opportunity to participate in an exhibition at our upstairs gallery space. Beginning in November 2021, with exhibitions lasting two weeks each. Multiple exhibitions will be held. We hope to help artists build exhibition experience, sell work, and build connections with other artists in the area.

Submissions

We welcome submissions in any media style. Work must have been made in the last 2 years. Initial submissions must be made with digital images/videos and sent to info@loislambertgallery.com with the subject line, ‘CALL FOR YOUNG ARTISTS’. We recommend sending images of 6-8 works. Along with the JPGs, please submit a brief explanation of the work.

Artist Criteria

Must be between 18-30 years of age and located in Los Angeles

Selection Process & Notification

All submitted works will be considered by Lois Lambert Gallery. All artists who submit work for consideration will be notified of our decision by September 10, 2021. All decisions are final.

Important

Artists are responsible for delivering artwork ready-to-hang during installation. Each accepted artist will work with the exhibition team to assure the work is properly prepared for display. Artists are responsible for picking up their work after the exhibition closes.

Northeastern University now hiring VAP and post-grad positions to teach 2D and drawing

Tuesday, July 20th, 2021

Northeastern University is seeking outstanding recent graduates from UCLA MFA program who may be interested in a full-time, non-tenure track position with a 3/3 load teaching 2D courses in color and composition, observational drawing, and/or conceptual drawing. We are especially interested in attracting applicants who will enhance our capacity to serve the diversifying, cosmopolitan student body at our Boston campus. A total of three positions are open for the 2021-22 academic year: one, one-year Visiting Assistant Professor, with possible one year renewal, and two Post-Graduate Teaching Fellows, who will receive mentorship and may renew up to three years. We will begin reviewing applications on July 30.

These positions have only just been approved, and our recruitment and hiring timetable is extremely compressed. Northeastern has experienced phenomenal growth in applications and acceptances, leading to record-setting enrollment in our Art + Design programs. At the same time, we have committed to reducing our reliance on part-time faculty in order to provide more stability for both our instructors and programs. We now have the enviable but still challenging task of rushing to fill these positions. Thank you in advance for your help circulating the announcement to highly qualified candidates who may miss the mid-summer posting. If there is a candidate you’d recommend I reach out to personally, please do share their contact information.
