Open Call for Visual Artists: The Consulate General of Mexico in LA

The 2022 edition of 35 x 35 exhibition, will commemorate the 200 Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Mexico and the US and artists can freely choose the theme of their artwork. We would like to learn and exhibit artworks that reflect the student’s interests and / or concerns expressed in any of the aforementioned media.

This exhibition seeks to provide a platform to showcase the work of emerging visual artists in Los Angeles, while providing opportunities for creators to meet and interact with other young people and professionals dedicated to the arts. We also aim to provide personal feedback to artists by art experts.

The exhibition will be curated by Cecilia Vázquez, artist and Associate Professor at Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, where she achieved years ago her Masters in Fine Arts, supported by a Fulbright fellowship. Initially inspired by her professors there to teach Art, she has continued to do so since 2001 in both Mexico and the US. Professor Vázquez has also been a member of the National System of Creators of Art in three occasions in her natal Mexico, where she obtained her BFA from the National Autonomous University, UNAM.

Professor Vazquez will select the best 35 pieces of art submitted by participants to make up the 35 x 35 exhibition of 2022, which will be presented at the Consulate General of Mexico from January – March 2023.
