The Virginia Center for the Creative Arts (VCCA) is accepting applications for the Steven Petrow LGBTQ Fellowship. The Fellowship is open to applicants working in all genres (writing, visual art, music composition) and consists of a fully-funded two-week residency at VCCA. VCCA Fellow and Board Member, Steven Petrow is an award-winning journalist and author best known for his Washington Post and New York Times essays on aging, health, and LGBTQ issues. He’s currently a contributing writer to The Post and The Times as well as a columnist for USA Today. In addition to his five etiquette books, Petrow previously wrote the Post’s “Civilities” column and “Civil Behavior” for the Times. His work has been published in Time, The Atlantic, Salon, the Daily Beast, the Los Angeles Times, and The Advocate. You can hear him on NPR’s “All Things Considered Weekend,” or TV networks MSNBC, PBS, CBS, Fox, and CNN. His most recent book is Steven Petrow’s Complete Gay & Lesbian Manners [stevenpetrow.com]. Steven also served as the host and executive producer of “The Civilist,” a podcast from Public Radio International and North Carolina Public Radio WUNC. He’s a former president of NLGJA: The Association of LGBTQ Journalists.
