Mayor Eric Garcetti’s Office of Communications is seeking press interns for the winter and spring. Press interns will assist the Communications team in developing strategies for communicating with the public through earned and digital media.
Responsibilities:
Drafting letters, social media copy, press releases, and speeches
Supporting staff at public events
Conducting background research on special projects
Tracking media mentions and compiling daily clips
Answering the main phone line and fielding press requests
Compiling digital metrics and data
Assisting all Communications staff as needed
Qualifications
Prospective interns must be undergraduate or graduate students that demonstrate an ability to succeed in a professional and fast-paced setting and have a strong interest in political communications. Ideal candidates are strong writers, effective communicators, and fast learners. Prior political internship experience is recommended.
Requirements
Interns should be able to work 12-16 hours/week at City Hall during the school year. Internships are unpaid, but academic credit is available.
