The WORLD Policy Analysis Center (WORLD) is looking for visually-minded and creative students to design and develop new forms of data visualization.
These forms could include:
Infographics
Animation
Video Production
And any other ideas you may have!
The Position
Our aim at WORLD is to translate new data and evidence into impact. The way our data is presented matters in ensuring we maximize our outreach. For this project we are looking for someone who can create infographics or other visual materials using policy data related to disability rights for materials launched at the International Day of Disabled Persons on December 3rd. We are asking for the successful student to work 10-15 hours a week. In addition to funding, WORLD will also offer the applicant physical space to work and mentoring throughout the project. Data visualizations need to be developed and finalized by November 30th 2019 in time for the December 3rd launch. We are open to all ideas and welcome new and innovative forms of creative design. Students from all fields are welcome to apply.
The Application Process
Applicants will submit:
- Completed application form
- Cover letter outlining how you would visualize our data. Please provide a brief overview of what your work would involve. Please specify the type of format you would use and what software, if any, you would be using.
- 2-3 examples of your previous work or any documents or photos to support your application
- CV/Résumé
- Two references who can speak to your experience and skills in data visualization/creative design.
Deadlines for applications will close on October 30th 2018 11.59pm. Successful applicants will be interviewed shortly after that date.

The WORLD Policy Analysis Center (WORLD) at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health (FSPH) is a global research center that analyzes policies and legislations in 193 countries that shape human health and life outcomes. Under the direction of Jody Heymann, WORLD aims to improve the quality and quantity of comparative data on policies affecting human rights, development, wellbeing, and equity and make it readily available to policymakers, citizens, civil society, and researchers worldwide.
