Call for Artists: Paid Public Art in Little Tokyo

Sustainable Little Tokyo has two Open Calls for paid art opportunities in Little Tokyo! We invite artists deeply rooted in Little Tokyo to submit two-dimensional plans, sketches/drawings, images, or renderings as proposals for two art commissions that explores the past, present, and future of our community.

DEADLINE: JANUARY 15, 2018.


1) Little Tokyo Open: The Art of Mini-golf
$500 commission with up to $500 project budget
LT Open transform open space within the Little Tokyo district into a pop-up nine-hole miniature golf course. Each hole will be one artists’ unique vision of Little Tokyo. The mini-golf course will temporarily take place on two consecutive weekends, April 14-15 and 21-22, 2018.

2) Windows for Little Tokyo
$500 commission
Little Tokyo becomes an outdoor art exhibition with 10-15 site-specific, two-dimensional artworks displayed on the windows of small businesses and institutions across the neighborhood. The artwork will be displayed from April 14–October 13, 2018 (duration depends on each partnering site).
