Remainders Creative Reuse Interns and Volunteers

Remainders Creative Reuse in Pasadena is seeking interns and volunteers for a variety of tasks oriented to the art and craft thrift store. Sorting donations, pricing new items we receive, cutting fabric, assisting in classes, putting merchandise out on the sales floor and possibly cashiering.

We are located at 787 East Washington Blvd and have 6000 square feet of space housing our thrift store, donation center and classroom studio. As an intern or volunteer you’ll work closely with fellow creatives in a fun, easy going environment that puts the visual arts and crafts in the forefront of everything we do.

Our mission and goal is to provide resources to the community and implement local, inclusive artistic opportunities, as a catalyst for positive growth resulting in environmental, social, educational and developmental change, thereby initiating global change one creative experience at a time.

Art Contest – “Imagine a World Free of Isms”

We are so excited here at Black Women for Wellness in collaboration with the Healthy Nail Collaborative to be launching our 2023 Art Contest: Reimagining a World Without Isms. As we grow as activists, artists, and visionaries, we are constantly using our ideas of a reimagined world to manifest a reality closer to a collective aspiration of hope, change, equity, and abundance. We are hoping that this art contest will be an opportunity for artists and creatives to tap into their inner vision of positive transformation. 

In a world where prejudice, discrimination, and stereotypes can create division, “Imagine a World Free of Isms” serves as a powerful and inspiring theme. As an artist, you’re invited to delve into a realm of unity, acceptance, and equality. Through art, let’s envision a world where these barriers no longer exist and share your unique perspective on what a world free of isms would look like.

Prizes: 3 Prizes awarded to top entries. 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, 3rd Place $200

New Limestone Review – Call for Submissions

The University of Kentucky’s New Limestone Review has opened submissions for its Fall 2023 digital issue. We are accepting submissions for poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and digital art.

MetaU Art International Art Competition

  • Speak Out for Surgery (SOS) is a student-led organization committed to advocating for equitable healthcare access. Our mission is twofold: first, to raise awareness about the pressing issue of healthcare disparities, shedding light on the barriers individuals face due to socio-economic and cultural factors, and second, to actively work towards bridging these gaps. As a club, we’ve evolved from our early days of connecting individuals and their families with vital medical, social, and legal resources in Los Angeles to a broader mission that includes educational workshops, awareness campaigns, and meaningful community partnerships. SOS welcomes individuals from all backgrounds who share our passion for creating a more equitable healthcare landscape.

CPR and First Aid Program at UCLA

The SWC CPR & First Aid Program at UCLA is a committee under USAC’s Student Wellness Commission. Our goal is to curb the rising trend of increasing prehospital deaths around the nation by teaching basic life-saving skills to community members. Our program’s instructors are a team of dedicated UCLA undergraduates of all majors, certified by the American Heart Association to teach Heartsaver CPR and First Aid, as well as Basic Life Support (BLS).

While we usually spend fall teaching in-person courses, we will instead be focusing this quarter on the teaching and leadership development of our new instructors in addition to welcoming and integrating them into our CPR family. We are excited to show y’all what the #cprlove is all about!❤️⚡️

Emergency Medicine Research Associated Spring Recruitment

ABOUT

We seek to admit highly motivated and competent students who have an interest in volunteering in the hospital, want to learn more about emergency medicine, and demonstrate a desire to assist with clinical research. We will be hosting Live Q&A Sessions via Zoom, and also releasing an EMRA Info Session Video towards the end of Week 1 for those interested in learning more about EMRA and the application process (details below). The James Alan Cox Foundation will be awarding five (5) undergraduate photojournalism scholarships/awards, payable to the student’s university, for the students’ tuition, housing or other educational purposes in the amount of $2,500 each:
-4 for video
-1 for still photography

Additional awards include:
– (1) or two (2) $1,500 Honorable Mention scholarships will be awarded to one (1) or two (2) college or graduate students.
 
-(5) high-end digital cameras that will be awarded to five (5) high school students for still photography.

Jim Cox, a photojournalist for KTVK-3TV in Arizona, was killed in the media helicopter collision over Phoenix 15 years ago.
