Poetry Reading: Natasha Trethewey at LACMA Campus 10/12

Pulitzer Prize–winning poet Natasha Trethewey will offer a reading in response to the casta paintings in the exhibition Archive of the World: Art and Imagination in Spanish America, 1500–1800, followed by a lively discussion in the galleries with distinguished scholars, Miguel A. Valerio, Assistant Professor of Spanish, Washington University in St. Louis, and IIona Katzew, Curator and Department Head, Latin American Art, LACMA.

A book signing with Natasha Trethewey will follow. RSVP required.

Volunteer Opportunity-Ronald Reagan Medical Center

“Clinical Neurogenomics Students (CNS) is recruiting NOW for Fall 2022! Members have the opportunity to gain clinical experience through weekly volunteer shifts at the Ronald Reagan Medical Center’s Neurology Clinic, helping eligible patients give their informed consent for neurogenomic research by teaching them about the process and assisting in enrollment. There are also opportunities to attend Neurology Grand Rounds, which are weekly seminars held by world-renowned scientists. New members will be able to start volunteering in the clinic this winter.

Recruiting Volunteers-EMI Dance Classes for Children with Disabilities

“Expressive Movement Initiative (EMI) is NOW recruiting volunteers for Fall 2022! We are a UCLA organization that teaches free weekly dance classes to children with disabilities. Volunteer Teachers are paired with a buddy to mentor one-on-one all quarter, and we welcome anyone with or without previous dance experience. Classes are held once a week on Zoom for 1 hour on either Mondays, Wednesdays, or Fridays depending on your availability. At the end of the quarter, we put on a showcase for other families and dancers to watch! In addition, our Volunteer Crew Members give presentations during general meetings and work on community outreach events.
