Teen Symposium & Showcase Submission Opportunity!

The Ebell of Los Angeles is launching our first-ever Teen Symposium & Showcase. Thisteen-designed, teen-led event celebrates the creativity, research, and perspectives of Los Angeles high school students. We would be grateful if you could share this opportunity with students who may be interested in submitting their work.

About the Opportunity
This unique showcase invites students to explore and respond to the guiding question:
How have women—and those expanding what womanhood means—shaped the past, present, or future of Los Angeles?

Students are encouraged to submit original work in a wide range of formats, including:

  • Visual art (painting, photography, digital, mixed media)
  • Performance (dance, music, theatre, multidisciplinary work)
  • Spoken word or poetry
  • Research presentations or talks
  • Written work (essays, narratives, hybrid forms)

Submissions will be reviewed and curated by paid high school interns in collaboration with Ebell staff, centering youth voice and leadership throughout the process.

Eligibility
Students must:

  • Be rising 9th–12th graders (entering Fall 2026)
  • Reside in Los Angeles County
  • Be enrolled in an accredited high school program
  • Submissions are open to all gender identities and may be individual or group projects

Key Dates

  • Submission Deadline: June 1, 2026 (5:00 PM PST)
  • Selections Announced: July 2026
  • Event Date: August 5, 2026 (in person in Los Angeles)

How to Submit
Students will complete an online submission form including a project description, artist statement, and sample of their work (works in progress are welcome). To access the form, please click here.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to engage in creative expression, research, and storytelling while contributing to a broader conversation about the impact of women in Los Angeles. Those selected can also add this experience to their resumes and/or college applications.
