Call for Submissions for ‘A Internacionalista’ – the undergraduate Journal of LAI-USP

The Bertha Lutz Laboratory of International Analysis of the University of São Paulo (LAI-USP), in Brazil, has the pleasure to announce the opening of submissions for our undergraduate International Relations journal, ‘A Internacionalista’.

The LAI-USP is an initiative that seeks to expand knowledge within the community through academic productions and promote the democratization of and access to International Relations.

In this thematic edition titled, “Cultural Industry and International Relations: Hegemony, Political Imaginary, and Disputes over Global Narratives”, we focus on the increasingly central role that culture and symbolic productions represent in a scenario defined by the informational flows intensified and the dispute for legitimacy in the international system. From this perspective, the cultural industry emerges as a strategy space of construction, reproduction and contestation of hegemonic narratives.

We expect that cultural forms (cinema, photography, social media and other symbolic expressions) will contribute to advancing the debate on how these productions are not just a reflection of international relations, but instruments of and an elemental base to these dynamics as well. We will be accepting submissions of academic articles preferably on this topic, though not limited to it.

  • Undergraduate students (or those who graduated no more than one year ago) from any field of study are eligible to submit articles;
  • This call for submissions will remain open until August 3th, 2026 (08/03/26);
