Apply Now to be a Program Counselor for the UCLA MUNSI 2022

July 24th – July 30th

Hello! I’m Nat Do, the 2022 Model United Nations Summer Institute (MUNSI) Program Coordinator, and I’m looking for energetic and worldly UCLA students to be counselors for an exciting summer program. The application is rolling and open now: click here to apply.

If you are interested in international politics, gaining hands-on work experience with high school students, and a fun and rewarding summer job, then MUNSI is the program for you! MUNSI is a 6-night, 7-day in-residence program for high school students of all Model UN experience levels who come to our beautiful UCLA campus to learn about international relations and master research and debate skills. After two successful years online, we are ecstatic to announce that as of now, MUNSI 2022 will be IN PERSON with up-to-date COVID-19 guidelines for everyone’s safety.

We are looking for enthusiastic UCLA students to conduct workshops, supervise students, and help run United Nations simulations from Sunday, July 24th to Saturday, July 30th, 2022. As a Counselor, your responsibilities include, but are not limited to: reviewing background guides, training materials, and position papers; conducting training, socials, and committee sessions; as well as supporting the development of a rich and immersive curriculum for the participants.

Prior experience or knowledge of Model United Nations is not a prerequisite to apply to be a Program Counselor, as all staff will receive comprehensive training prior to the start of the Summer Institute. Those that do have a background with MUN can consider this a wonderful opportunity to share your knowledge of MUN rules of procedure, public speaking, international relations, and politics with eager high school students seeking a dynamic and rewarding summer experience. We also encourage experienced students to apply for Chair and Crisis Director positions, which include higher responsibilities and compensation.

Counselors:

1.      Must be current or recently graduated UCLA students

2.      Will be required to work the following dates and times (see below)

3.      Will be compensated $800 for the entire session

4.      Will have lunches and dinner compensated throughout the week

5.      Who are selected to be a Chair or Crisis Director will be given complimentary housing in the residential halls, as well as have breakfasts compensated

a.      Chairs and Crisis Directors will write a background guide before the program, be more involved with preparing trainings and running committees, and spend more time with the students

MUNSI 2022 Session Dates:

Sunday, July 24th, 2022 through Saturday, July 30th, 2022.

Shift Hours:

Sunday (training)                                          10:00am – 8:00pm

Monday-Tuesday                                          7:30am – 9:00pm

Wed, Thur, Fri                                                8:00am – 6:30pm

Saturday                                                         8:00am – 5:00 pm

Due to the time-intensive nature of the Summer Institute, it is strongly recommended that Counselors free their schedule of any additional work, classes, and internships as these may conflict with program hours. Please message me (+17142708856) if you are concerned about your eligibility.

Note that all Counselors will undergo a mandatory background check.

If the position interests you, then you are encouraged to apply to be a Program Counselor for MUNSI 2022! Positions will be filled on a rolling basis, so you are asked to apply ASAP. Applications will not be considered after June 10th, 2022. The application is available here
