The Photoville FENCE is a year-round public photography project exhibited in parks and downtowns across North America. Photographers of all levels (professionals, students, and amateurs) from across the globe are invited to submit. Featuring over 85 photographers annually, the project brings compelling visual stories into the public realm to an audience of over 9 million. The project will be exhibited in 11 locations: Atlanta, Brooklyn, Calgary, Denver, Durham, Houston, New Orleans, the Metro (Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead), Sarasota, Seattle and Winchester.
The Photoville FENCE At-A-Glance:
- Submissions are $35/series, with a deadline of June 4.
- A jury of over 60 industry leaders who represent diverse voices and professions across the arts and media landscape will review all submissions.
- 40 artists will be selected for the 9th edition of the Photoville FENCE. Additionally, over 45 photographers will be selected for Regional Photographers Showcase public exhibitions.
- Additional awards will be given to two artists. A Juror’s Choice winner will receive a $5000 project development cash grant, mentorship, and a public solo exhibition at the Photoville festival in 2020. A People’s Choice winner will receive a Leica camera package.
- Selected artists will be exhibited on 11 large-scale outdoor exhibitions over the next year and a half.
- We understand this is a challenging financial time for photographers and freelancers, so there is pay-what-you-can option available in addition to our usual need-based scholarship fee waivers.
