The Department of Art and Art History at Washington and Lee University is currently conducting a tenure-track search for an Assistant Professor of Art in Sculpture. Washington and Lee is a highly selective, private, liberal arts university with approximately 1800 undergraduates, located in the Shenandoah Valley in Lexington, Virginia.

They are looking for applicants who will extend their studio art curriculum in ways that might include, but are not limited to, traditional sculpture methods and materials, digital and expanded media, spatial media/installation, site-specific, socially engaged and collaborative practices. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts environment with small class sizes and collaborating with faculty within our studio art and art history programs. The ideal candidate will also contribute to the department’s Staniar Gallery programming and participate in college-wide academic programs and initiatives. Possible interdisciplinary collaborations include Africana Studies, Environmental Studies, Film and Visual Studies, Latin American and Caribbean Studies, Middle East and South Asian Studies, the Shepherd Program for the Interdisciplinary Study of Poverty and Human Capability, and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies.
