Communications Student Assistant

The UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture (UCLA Arts) is hiring a Communications Student Assistant for the 2017-18 academic year. The qualified candidate will:

  • develop a greater understanding of School of the Arts and Architecture events, departments, programs, and faculty
  • build their resume and gain skills applicable to working in non-profits and arts organizations
  • and get a glimpse of the inner-workings of a dynamic communications department

Responsibilities include:

  • Compiling and formatting news coverage of the School and its faculty
  • Formatting content and posts for social media, email marketing, website, and online calendar
  • Maintaining an archive of student, alumni, and faculty accomplishments
  • Assisting with special projects including School-related photo shoots, publications, films, and marketing campaigns
  • Assisting with public relations research
  • Assisting with media list building and maintenance
  • Providing general administrative support

Qualifications:

  • Punctuality and dependability
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to learn new processes and programs quickly
  • Availability to work 10 hours per week
  • Knowledge of and/or interest in UCLA Arts community
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite preferred
  • Proficiency in social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat preferred
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff

This is a part‐time position for UCLA students with work-study awards. Preference for students from the School of the Arts and Architecture. 10 hours per week mostly during weekday business hours, but some evenings and weekends may be required.
