Center for the Study of Women is Hiring an Undergrad Researcher

UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCHER POSITION
(Accepting applications from UCLA undergraduate students with or without work study funding)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The UCLA Center for the Study of Women (CSW) has an opening for an undergraduate student researcher fluent in spoken and written Spanish to contribute to the research study, “Gender and Everyday Water Use in Los Angeles Households” (https://csw.ucla.edu/gender-everyday-water-use-los-angeles-households/). The study is part of the UCLA Sustainable Los Angeles Grand Challenge grant program and examines how gender shapes the way that people use, value, and save water on an everyday basis. Undergraduate researchers will conduct interviews in pre-determined Los Angeles neighborhood(s) with a significant Spanish-speaking population.

Position will work with and be supervised by Principal Investigator Jessica Cattelino and graduate student researchers.

QUALIFICATIONS
1) Spoken and written fluency in Spanish (required)
2) Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
3) Ability to interact professionally, tactfully, and sensitively with community members of diverse backgrounds
4) Experience working in team (faculty/graduate students a plus) and with confidential materials (position will receive human subjects training)
5) Ethnographic/qualitative research experience (not required)

HIRING AND PAYMENT DETAILS
· $15/hour
· Start date of July 1, 2017, or sooner
· Hours are dependent on ethnographic research schedule; position will continue based on research needs and satisfactory performance
· Ground transportation to/from interview sites outside of UCLA will be reimbursed.
