California Jewish Open Call

Tuesday, November 21st, 2023

We are excited to announce the launch of the California Jewish Open – an open call for artworks by Jewish-identifying artists based in California that engage the theme of Connection. Seeking connection is one of the most distinctive qualities of being human. In a moment where some of our most natural responses—such as grief, hope, fear, and resilience—are being politicized to isolate and divide us, connection is essential to upholding our shared humanity. Selected artworks will be exhibited at The Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco in the summer/fall of 2024.

The link below outlines the specifics of the open call, including eligibility criteria, submission guidelines, and key dates.

Jumpstart UCLA is currently hiring for the 2023-2024 program year, and we’d like to invite you to apply!

Friday, August 11th, 2023

Jumpstart is a national early education program working toward the day that every child in America enters Kindergarten prepared to succeed. To achieve this vision, we partner teams of caring college students like yourself with local preschool classrooms located in underserved communities to promote language, literacy, and social-emotional skills. Did you know that children from low-income neighborhoods often start kindergarten 60%, or roughly 18 months, behind their more affluent peers? This is what we refer to as the “kindergarten achievement gap” and it only grows wider with each grade level if not addressed early. Jumpstart members play a vital role in our movement to close this gap and give our next generation the jumpstart needed to succeed both academically and socially.

Wednesday, June 7th, 2023

San Diego International Airport’s Arts Program is celebrating the joint designation of San Diego and Tijuana as the 2024 World Design Capital (WDC) through our upcoming temporary exhibition. The Arts Program invites artists, curators, and cultural, community, or educational organizations working in all media to submit proposals that showcase the culture of our binational region as they explore the border of art and design. This exhibition theme will investigate how artists use art and design both for function, and to reveal what is important to the creators and their audience. Selected artwork and collections representing the theme will be displayed throughout the airport for up to one year beginning in January 2024. Up to twenty participating artists and/or organizations will be chosen for the exhibition, each will receive a stipend of $1,000. Submissions of existing, in-process and/or new work are welcome.
