UCLA Art Student and Alumni Opportunities

The Fine Arts Roundtable (FAR), an organization of graduate students at California State University Long Beach (CSULB), invites SoCal MFA students, currently enrolled or recent Spring 2022 graduates, to apply to our open call for the 18th annual Greater Los Angeles MFA (GLAMFA) exhibition. Our mission in hosting an annual series of events through GLAMFA is to foster new relationships, build community among the MFA programs in the greater Los Angeles area, and to celebrate our potential to investigate, create, uplift, and heal with the power of the arts.

Call for Artists:

The City of Sunnyvale’s Art in Public Places program seeks to commission artists, or artistic teams, to design and execute original works of art for the lobby landings in the new City Hall building (all medias are eligible). There are four locations available and a total of four artists will be selected for this commission.

All applications must be received by 5 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2022.

Materials may be submitted electronically to the City of Sunnyvale, Public Art Coordinator, Kristin Dance, at publicart@sunnyvale.ca.gov or in person at the Sunnyvale Community Center, 550 E. Remington Drive, Sunnyvale 94087. Images must be in JPEG or PDF format.

The Geffen Playhouse is launching the “Art Lives Here Program” again for the 2022-2023 season. Students have the opportunity to win a cash prize and showcase their art.

Uprise Art: Open Call for Artists

Founded by Tze Chun in 2011, Uprise Art has championed emerging artists and made their work more accessible to collectors through online and offline programming. By submitting to our open call your work will be considered for:

– Being presented and featured in Uprise Art’s online gallery (www.upriseart.com)
– Digital exhibitions
– Physical exhibitions at our gallery in NYC, or partner galleries through collaborations
– Art Fairs
– Other special project opportunities

At the forefront of our programing is the desire to present art in a range of environments both digital and physical, to better connect with collectors and broaden our artists’ audience. Our in-house advisory team works with a range of clients from individual collectors to institutional and corporate collections.

Our Curatorial Team reviews all submissions on a rolling basis, and will reach out if interested in discussing potential opportunities. Due to the high volume of submissions we are unable to respond to every artist, but rest assured all materials are reviewed.

Dearest Poets, Performers, Dancers, Soundmakers, Filmmakers, etc.: PraxinoscopeX seeks to review Works for
Performance relating to Signs of the Zodiac.

PraxinoscopeX is an event series consisting of an evening of twelve performance works responding to a central theme.

PraxinoscopeX recalls a Victorian Era device: a cylinder spinning twelve different images creating the illusion of motion.

PraxinoscopeX evolves from a podcast by @DerekDenckla FKA Inspiration Practice

In March, UCLA launched UCLA First Thursdays, which will take place every first Thursday of the month from 6:30 – 9:30 p.m., on Broxton Ave in Westwood Village. The event series will feature a variety of performances (music, dance, spoken word and more), local food and beverage, movies, and interactive activities and installations for students and the community to enjoy.

In May, our theme will be Joy Fest, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and World Laughter Day. UCLA First Thursday: Joy Fest will celebrate the power of joyful moments and the joy that comes through self expression.

We are looking for up to 20 student photographers to participate in a student photography exhibit showcasing photographs that depict or express joyful moments.

We understand that joy means different things to different people and we’re looking for your definition of joyful moments and joyful expression through photography.

The Global Design Graduate Show 2022 in collaboration with Gucci has officially launched! This year’s initiative is now open to all art & design students graduating from November 2021-August 2022 (both undergraduate and postgraduate) in any related creative discipline, located anywhere in the world.
