Saint Monica Preparatory is seeking a full-time Art teacher for the 2023 – 2024 school year.
Full-time faculty responsibilities include teaching five classes, serving as a grade-level advisor,
and participating in co-curricular activities. Opportunities to integrate interdisciplinary projects
and showcases are woven within the curriculum framework.
Job Responsibilities & Duties
Full-time faculty responsibilities include:
● Teaching five classes with the ability to communicate, create and execute lessons in
different forms/mediums of art (including digital) that are engaging for high school-level
students.
● Serving as a grade-level advisor committed to students’ social and emotional
development.
● Participating in co-curricular activities, including moderating student clubs and/or
organizations and supervising grade-level retreats.

● Show a willingness to engage students in meaningful learning experiences and foster a
project-based learning environment.
● Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop an integrated, meaningful curriculum

● Provide constructive and effective feedback on students’ artwork to improve
performance.
Desirable Qualifications:
● MFA degree, Education or related field and/or California Single-subject Teaching
Credential
● 3-5 years of teaching experience
● Experience with collaborative curriculum design, ideally including backward design
based on clearly defined learning objectives, and experience planning student-centered
lessons that are differentiated to meet the needs of all learners
● Experience providing instruction that prioritizes communicative and task-based
pedagogical approaches
● Experience in the development and implementation of project-based learning curriculum
Requirements:
● Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art
● Ability to teach Intro level – honors and AP Studio level Art classes
● Experience using instructional technology
● Ability to convey enthusiasm for the subject matter and develop a positive rapport with
students
● Strong interpersonal and communication skills
● Willingness to contribute to school life outside of the classroom
Compensation & Process:
