Mellon Gateway Postdoctoral Fellow in Visual Art – Brown University

Brown University’s Department of Visual Art wants to offer a special opportunity to a young or emerging artist in the field of Sculpture and Social Practice. This position is made possible by a grant from the Mellon Foundation. The purpose of this grant is to increase opportunities for young or emerging artists from Historically Underrepresented Groups, or artists whose work deals with issues important to Historically Underrepresented Groups.

The chosen candidate will be given significant financial support for two years to build their careers, with minimal teaching (one course per year), and then after two years will start in an Assistant Professor Tenure Track position in the Visual Art Department, teaching both foundational and upper-level courses to undergraduate students.

SBF Artist Fellowship

The SBF Artist Fellowship represents an alliance between survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic violence and artists who seek to make an impact both in their creative pieces and their daily lives. The fellowship is the first of its kind. If selected, artists have the opportunity to have their pieces displayed in an online gallery and sold in a charity auction. All proceeds benefit the start-up nonprofit Survivor’s Best Friend, which unites shelter animals with survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic violence one adoption at a time. Call for Applicants – FORUM 2018 TORRANCE ART MUSEUM

A free, nine month long, mentoring program for those that wish to build a career in the contemporary visual arts but lack a prolonged experience with professional art world activities. This empowering program is designed as a practical guide to navigating the art world via Q&A sessions with successful professionals (artists, curators, critics and gallerists), culminating with an exhibition, in Gallery Two of the Torrance Art Museum, with the program’s participants. The artists will show their work, the curators will select which works, the writers will write essays for the catalog and gallerists will run the opening and PR for it.

The Structurist Fellowship

The Structurist Fellowship is a grant available to individuals pursuing research and creative work pertaining to the mission of The Structurist, an international art journal founded in 1960 at the University of Saskatchewan by Professor Eli Bornstein.

Eligibility is open internationally. Deadline to apply is January 15, 2018.
