Presidential Banquet Collaboration

USAC Office of the President is hosting the President’s Banquet in the Ackerman Grand Ballroom on April 27, 2023, with special guest Chancellor Gene Block, and we are looking to showcase student artists and their work that evening.

The theme of the banquet is ‘A Blank Canvas’ with the idea being to have a fresh start and move forward with new initiatives. Tied along with the theme name of “canvas,” the decor will be inspired by Impressionist painters, namely Van Gogh, Monet, and Matisse.

Along the walls of the ballroom, the hope is to have easels lining the perimeter to display Bruin-made artwork. We would also like to create a small, makeshift gallery incorporated into the “mocktail” area, where student art would also be showcased.

As such, we are looking for artists who might be willing to offer their work as part of the exhibit, whether that be existing pieces or new submissions. While the theme is Impressionism, we invite you to take the theme as loosely or closely as you’d like; the pieces can be a creative take on an Impressionist painting, it can be a vase painted with The Artist’s Painting at Giverny or even an entirely modern perspective of what Impressionism means. Truly, we are looking to showcase your vision and your art.
