Kenyon College Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Expanded Sculpture

Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, welcomes applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor in Expanded Sculpture in the Studio Art Department beginning July 2022.

The successful candidate will be an artist for whom expanded sculpture serves as a major component of their artistic focus, while developing and maintaining an ongoing professional career. They will contribute to the curriculum which offers introductory, intermediate, and advanced formal and technical knowledge as well as individual project development, critical thinking, experimentation, and a breadth of knowledge of modern and contemporary aesthetics. They will be able to teach a variety of processes, including digital fabrication, as well as installation, wood, and metal techniques.

The ideal candidate will contribute to the diversity of Kenyon College by bringing a perspective, way of thinking, and/or a unique set of experiences that expand the intellectual and cultural conversations in art and interdisciplinary artistic practices. Candidates should include a statement of teaching philosophy and address their experience teaching diverse student populations and developing an inclusive classroom environment.

Responsibilities include teaching five courses per year on all levels including one cross-media advanced seminar. Applicant must demonstrate strong teaching skills, with teaching experience at the college level expected. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the studio and equipment (for 3-D digital, wood, and metal fabrication), purchasing supplies, implementing and adhering to safety protocols, and supervising the Shop Supervisor/Technician and student shop assistant. MFA and a high level of professional artistic activity required.

The Studio Art Department includes 6.0 FTE and is housed in a well-appointed new building, Horvitz Hall.
