Volunteer Opportunity: Houselessness Day of Service

Dear Bruin Community,

You are invited to Houselessness Day of Service 2023 on Friday afternoon, April 7, Week 1 of Spring Quarter. Jointly organized by the USAC Community Service Commission, Hunger Project, Good Clothes Good People, ECHO, Habitat for Humanity,  join us for a day dedicated to engaging with the issue of housing insecurity in our local communities. 

Look forward to: 

(1) Direct Service Opportunities including: a site build with Habitat for Humanity, assembling and distributing care packages in Westwood, meal service distribution at Midnight Mission and assembly of welcome home packages at PATH 

(2) Keynote Presentation by Gary Blasi, UCLA Professor of Law Emeritus, on effective ways to make an impact on housing insecurity 

(3) Transportation and Free Lunch included!

In addition, we will be organizing a week-long food drive in Week 1 to support new residents at PATH transitioning from houselessness into housing. Donation boxes will be set up at Bruin Walk from 11am – 4.30pm, and all donors will be entered into a raffle for 5 x $20 Amazon gift cards. 

Accepted Items: Rice, Beans, Corn, Peanut Butter, Pasta, Sugar, Coffee, Salt/Pepper, Jelly, Tuna, Soup, Hamburger Helper, Canned fruit, Canned vegetables, Crackers, Granola, Cereal, Oatmeal, Cup of noodles, Mayonnaise, Cooking oil
