Description
The Artist-in-Residence, Fine Arts has the general responsibility of managing the College’s non-credit art programs. Duties include teaching courses, preparing materials to be used in the ceramic’s courses, and promotion of the program. The position is a 12-month, professional position. Work is performed under the general administrative supervision of the Dean, Arts and Hospitality.
Examples of Duties
1. Organizes, schedules, and coordinates non-credit art courses and workshops at both the Key West Campus and the Upper Keys Center.
2. Recruits visiting artists for art workshops.
3. Engages in outreach and public relations activities and programming in an effort to recruit students into the program in collaboration with advancement and community education departments.
4. Oversees the operation of the Craft Art Department, including the management of the budget, purchasing materials, maintenance of equipment, kilns, etc.
5. Ensures appropriate safety measures are being practiced in the art department.
6. Teaches three (3), non-credit courses in fall and spring terms and one (1), non-credit course in the summer term.
7. Sponsors Mud-Pi, the student activities ceramics club.
8. Conducts at least one fundraising activity per year to support the program in collaboration with advancement and community education departments.
9. Performs ongoing evaluation of the department and makes recommendations for improvements.
10. Assists in implementing College policies and achieving College goals according to College policies and procedures.
11. Participates in professional development opportunities as needed to stay current in field.
12. Participates in committee work.
13. Assists in College recruitment and retention efforts.
14. Required to attend Graduation/Commencement ceremonies.
15. Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of art and ceramics, with a history of excellence and recognition as a professional artist measured in shows, and collection.
- Demonstrated instructional ability.
- Ability to interact positively with the local and College community.
- Ability to deal effectively with students, staff, and the public.
- Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures, and services.
- Proficient in the use of technology.
Education and Qualifications:
- High School degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
- Five (5) years’ experience as a professional artist with proven mastery measured in shows, collections, and reviews required.
(A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications)

- None
Physical Skills:
- Moderate (20-40lbs) lifting and carrying.
