This Grant Writing for Artists Workshop will provide an overview of the grant research and application process for individual artists. The workshop is geared toward visual artists, but the majority of information is applicable to artists working in all fields. Instructor will present information on what types of grants are available to artists, how to research what grant is right for each individual, best practices for writing grants and tips and tricks on creating successful applications.

*This is an outdoor workshop. Everyone will be asked to wear face coverings when possible, and all workspaces will be sanitized before and after the workshop.
All workshop participants will receive handouts of materials presented during the workshop, including resources for researching grants and paid artist residencies.
Drawwing Cabinet is pleased to introduce Cathy Akers, artist / instructor for our upcoming Grant Writing for Artists workshop. Akers is a LA-based visual artist who works primarily in photography, ceramics, and installation. Simultaneous with her practice, Cathy has worked professionally as a fundraiser for arts organizations for more than 15 years. She has worked with foundation and government funders at non-profits such as the MOCA, REDCAT, CalArts, and Film Independent and UCLA.
