Barnsdall Art Center is a facility operated by the Department of Cultural Affairs for the City of Los Angeles and offers college-level arts instruction at a low cost for adults. The center’s hope is to better prepare folks interested in starting a career in the arts as well as provide affordable resources to professional artists who can’t speak to a lawyer regularly.
Currently, the center is offering a special workshop titled “Legal Issues for Artists” to help emerging and established artists navigate the legal side of working as an artist. Taught by Derek Lee, a glass mosaic artist & lawyer, the workshop will cover a wide range of topics from starting an art business, copyrights/trademarks, contracts, grants, and much more.
This workshop will start Friday, March 19 from 6:30 PM – 8 PM. It will run on Fridays for 6 weeks at the same time. I’ve attached a pdf & png copy of the flyer we created for the class.
