Call for Artists – ‘Queer’ Asia, The British Museum

Queer’ Asia is seeking art submission for an exhibition to be held at the British Museum, London.

‘Queer’ Asia is an organisation that aims to create a global platform for inter-Asia collaboration, dialogue, and research on matters affecting people who self-identify as LGBTQ+ or belong to other non-normative sexualities and gender identities in Asia, or Asian diasporas. Alongside an annual film festival, ‘Queer’ Asia hosts a contemporary art exhibition that features a diversity of artwork to raise awareness of themes and topics relevant to queer struggles. The ‘Queer’ Asia Art Exhibition draws in a large audience and attracts widespread media coverage; exhibiting artists have been offered to appear on news outlets to discuss their work and have gone on to participate in national and international LGBTQ+ exhibitions.

Following the success of the 2018 art exhibition ‘Bodies x Borders’, ‘Queer’ Asia is pleased to announce a contemporary art exhibition to be held at the British Museum, London, in July.

We are seeking artists whose work explores LGBTQ+ content in Asia and/or within Asian diasporas. Artworks including paintings, sketches, photographs, mixed media (such as collages, montages etc.), textiles, sculptures, installations (including fashion installations) and video/audio artwork are accepted.

Deadline for submissions: February 28th 2019
