Kenyon College, a highly selective, nationally ranked liberal arts college in central Ohio, invites applications for a one-year visiting position in the Department of Art at the rank of visiting assistant professor beginning July 2018.
The successful candidate will be
an artist for whom printmaking and drawing are a major component of his/her artistic focus. This position requires competence in a wide range of contemporary and historical processes and concepts. Knowledge of art history and current issues in contemporary art theory and criticism is expected. The ideal candidate will contribute to the diversity of Kenyon College by bringing a perspective, way of thinking, and/or a unique set of experiences that expand the intellectual and cultural conversations in studio art.
Responsibilities include teaching five courses per year on all levels possibly including one cross-media advanced seminar. Applicant must demonstrate strong teaching skills, with teaching experience at the college level expected. Additional responsibilities include maintaining the print studio, purchasing equipment and supplies, and implementing and adhering to safety protocols. MFA and a high level of professional artistic activity required.
The studio section of the Art and Art History Department includes 6.0 FTE and is housed in a well-appointed new building, Horvitz Hall.
