Job Summary Statement:
Support and advise the Chair of the Department of Art on a wide range of issues and projects, including course schedule planning, faculty meetings and program plans. Plan and coordinate public programs of the department – including student exhibitions, visiting artist lecture series and other special events. Manage the printed publicity materials, and the website for the department. Conduct research, undertake program analyses and generate reports as required. Manage multiple tasks and duties initiated by the Chair in order to meet program goals.

Qualifications for Position:
1. Excellent oral and written communication skills to explain complex policies and procedures at various organizational levels. Required
2. Demonstrated skill in writing concise descriptive correspondence and reports using excellent grammar, punctuation and syntax. Required
3. Skill in balancing multiple priorities and the flexibility to work with changing priorities and constant interruptions without sacrificing quality and accuracy. Required
4. Skill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect relative importance of job responsibilities. Required
5. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information. Required
6. Ability to interface effectively and professionally with high-level campus administrators as well as faculty, students, departmental staff and the general public. Required
7. Skill in analyzing information, problems, situations, practices and procedures to formulate logical and objective conclusions. Required
8. Ability to plan and execute programs and projects involving complex logistics and time restrictions. Required
9. Skill in working independently and successfully following through on assignments with minimal direction. Required
10. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with people at all levels of the University. Required
11. Demonstrated high skill level in using a PC in a Windows environment including word processing, spreadsheets, database, Internet browsers, and email applications. Required\
12. Skill in utilizing University systems, including Personnel/Payroll Systems, EOL, Student Information Systems, BruinBuy, Purchasing and Accounts Payable System (PAC), Travel Express, UCLA Recruit, SR Web, OASIS. Required
13. Skill in using software for web development and graphic applications such as Dreamweaver and Photoshop. Required
14. Knowledge of contemporary art practice and visual and performing arts studies. Preferred
15. Skill in managing a budget, analyzing expenditures and making financial recommendations based on trends. Required
16. Ability to take initiative and anticipate issues in advance of problems, and communicate recommended course of action to the Chair and MSO. Required
17. Ability to manage multiple projects on differing timelines, anticipate deadlines, and keep projects on schedule. Required
