All types of media are welcome, although this site lends itself to a large-scale, freestanding, interactive artwork, that can withstand rain, wind and direct sunlight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Artist Eligibility:<\/strong> This Request for Qualifications is open to practicing professional and emerging artists, who reside in the Western United States (AK, AZ, CA, CO, HI, ID, MT, NM, NV, OR, UT, WA and WY). Artists residing in Sunnyvale and who meet all the criteria outlined in this RFQ are especially urged to apply. Applicants must be 18 and over.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Artwork Budget<\/strong>: $128,000 (all-inclusive). Semi-Finalist Artist Design Honorarium (per artist\/artist team) &#8211; $1,000. The project budget is all-inclusive of project costs, including artist&#8217;s fees and expenses, taxes, materials, permit fees, travel, packing and shipping, insurance fees, additional site preparation, footings, equipment rental, lighting fixtures, fabrication and installation of the artwork. Electrical tie-in will be available at the site, but artist will be expected to provide any additional conduit, junction boxes, panels and parts needed to support the artwork.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Site and Project Description<\/strong>: Originally constructed in 1960, Lakewood Park has nearly 11 acres of recreational programming space. It is located within the Lakewood neighborhood and features an outer space theme. Park amenities include a basketball court, tennis courts, handball\/racquetball courts, reservable ballfields, horseshoe pits, mini-skate park, tot and youth playgrounds, sand volleyball court, splash pad, gazebo, community building, restrooms, and picnic tables. Lakewood Park is adjacent to Lakewood Elementary School, the John W. Christian Greenbelt pathway and the new Lakewood Library and Learning Center (currently under construction). The primary objective of the renovation project is to enhance the existing grounds and ensure sustainability for the future through improved recreational usability, increased attractiveness, reduced maintenance needs and lowered utility use.
