At the University of Chicago, we believe art is a cultural product, and as such, we encourage students to explore the specific artistic concerns pertinent to their work, as well as relevant theoretical, social and historical issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our MFA student body is comprised of artists working in sculpture, photography, painting, installation, performance, video and new media. Students are expected to work with all faculty, whose expertise cross a number of disciplines. We believe that art should not be an isolating activity and that students\/artists benefit from the cross-fertilization of daily contact with people working across different media and dealing with similar sets of issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The University of Chicago Department of Visual Arts will be hosting a virtual open house for prospective students<\/a><\/strong> on Thursday, November 21 at 2:00 PM CST<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n During this session we will provide an overview of the MFA in Visual Arts<\/a><\/u><\/strong> program and answer questions about graduate study and the graduate application process at the University of Chicago. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
