{"id":7926,"date":"2024-02-06T10:04:46","date_gmt":"2024-02-06T18:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7926"},"modified":"2024-02-06T10:04:46","modified_gmt":"2024-02-06T18:04:46","slug":"psaid-contest-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7926","title":{"rendered":"PSAid Contest"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The U.S.\u202fAgency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for\u202fHumanitarian\u202fAssistance (BHA) is proud to announce its 2024 public service announcement (PSA) contest, <a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/www.psaid.org\/about-psaid\/__;!!FjuHKAHQs5udqho!KrVaYRiTpIa2YNKKpLNHlYhnkbMPz4PPIWp1AqSGZYVhg2u5YPfcasiM_X_dAiz68GJXHnyuoth36RbsjlLt4RuHtU5B8p4o3oSwgNQ$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">PSAid<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contest\u202fchallenges college students to\u202fproduce\u202f<strong>PSAs that\u202fcreatively articulate why \u201cCash is Best\u201d when helping people affected by international disasters.<\/strong>\u202fCash contributions allow\u202frelief organizations\u202fto\u202fpurchase exactly what is most urgently needed to help survivors.\u202f\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The contest is designed to fit in the curriculum of communications, graphic design, digital media and\/or advertising classes, but we welcome anyone who wants to enter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>Students are encouraged to produce PSAs in any of the below categories, and can enter as a group or individually:\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Static Image\u202f<\/strong>\u2013 An ad that can appear in a magazine, newspaper or online. Can be in the form of a digital ad, social graphic or infographic.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>GIF\u202f<\/strong>\u2013 a short (10 seconds or less) animated image with no sound.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Video\u202f<\/strong>\u2013 must be exactly 15 or 30 seconds in length.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u202f\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The due date for submissions is <strong>Monday, March 18, 2024<\/strong> (midnight Pacific time), and the winners will be announced the <strong>week of April 22<sup>nd<\/sup><\/strong>. The<a href=\"https:\/\/www.psaid.org\/\"><strong>PSAID website<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;has contest rules and guidelines as well as past winning PSAs, and a video that can be shared with students. You can find a one-pager with additional details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psaid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/What-Is-PSAID.pdf\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, winning GIF, print, and video PSAs are used by USAID social media channels, placed in online newspapers across the country and run on popular streaming services.\u00a0Past winning PSAs have reached well over one billion people and have aired in more than 150 media markets, including top markets such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Dallas, Atlanta, Washington and Boston. Video PSAs have aired during popular shows including\u202f<em>NCIS, The Goldbergs, America\u2019s Got Talent, Dateline NBC, Access Hollywood and Chicago Fire\u202f<\/em>and<em>\u202f<\/em>winning static PSAs have been featured in\u202f<em>the Forbes, Rolling Stone, The Boston Herald, St. Louis Dispatch, Minneapolis Star Tribune, Philadelphia Life\u202f<\/em>and\u202f<em>the Arizona Republic,\u202f<\/em>to name a few.\u202f\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>+++\u202f\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cCash is Best\u201d message is central to the work done by the U.S. Agency for International Development\u2019s Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance. USAID BHA works to educate the public about why providing monetary donations is the best way to help people who are affected by disasters worldwide. With a cash contribution, relief organizations can purchase exactly what is most urgently needed to help survivors \u2013 without incurring any transportation or storage costs. Cash also enables relief supplies to be purchased near the disaster site, stimulating local economies when they need it most.
