{"id":7884,"date":"2024-01-23T11:22:16","date_gmt":"2024-01-23T19:22:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7884"},"modified":"2024-01-23T11:22:16","modified_gmt":"2024-01-23T19:22:16","slug":"experimental-music-reading-group-at-ucla","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7884","title":{"rendered":"Experimental Music &#8211; Reading Group at UCLA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>This is an announcement for the first meeting of a new reading group at UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music entitled <strong>\u201cYes, but is this music \u201cexperimental\u201d? <\/strong>and subtitled<strong>&nbsp;\u201cExperimental Music: Community, Identity, and Ethos behind the \u201cEmpty\u201d Category.\u201d <\/strong>Participants are invited to discuss the fundamental questions about the North American tradition of experimental music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The reading group is supervised by <strong>Robert Fink,<\/strong>&nbsp;Professor of Musicology at UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, who&#8217;s to be assisted by&nbsp;me. The group will be meeting every 2nd Thursday&nbsp;starting Feb. 1st&nbsp;from 6:00 to 8:00 PM&nbsp;at SMB 1354.
