{"id":7728,"date":"2023-07-14T14:14:37","date_gmt":"2023-07-14T21:14:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7728"},"modified":"2023-07-14T14:14:37","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T21:14:37","slug":"2024-u-s-agency-for-international-development-usaid-bureau-for-humanitarian-assistance-bha-annual-public-service-announcement-psa-contest-psaid","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7728","title":{"rendered":"2024 U.S.\u00a0Agency for International Development (USAID) Bureau for\u00a0Humanitarian\u00a0Assistance (BHA) annual public service announcement (PSA) contest, PSAid."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The contest&nbsp;challenges college students to&nbsp;produce&nbsp;public<strong> service announcements (PSAs) that&nbsp;creatively articulate why \u201cCash is Best\u201d when helping people affected by international disasters.<\/strong>&nbsp;Cash contributions allow&nbsp;relief organizations&nbsp;to&nbsp;purchase exactly what is most urgently needed to help survivors.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The contest is designed to fit in the curriculum of communications, graphic design, digital media and\/or advertising classes, though, of course, we welcome anyone who wants to enter. <strong>All of last year\u2019s student participants stated that based on their experience, they would recommend participating in the contest to others when surveyed:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI started studying graphic design because I want to create solutions for effective communication and help people understand and engage with the world,\u201d said Quinn Patterson, 2023 second place static image winner from Arizona State University. \u201cThe PSAid contest was one of my first steps on that path, and I&#8217;m beyond happy that my work achieved the message I wanted to send.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students are encouraged to produce PSAs in any of the below categories, and can enter as a group or individually:&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Static Image&nbsp;<\/strong>\u2013 An ad that can appear in a magazine, newspaper, or online Can include a digital ad, social graphic or infographic.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>GIF\u202f<\/strong>\u2013 a short (10 seconds or less) animated image with no sound.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Video\u202f<\/strong>\u2013 must be exactly 15 or 30 seconds in length.\u202f&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u202f\u202f&nbsp;\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>More communications will follow in the Fall, but I want to make you aware of <em>key dates<\/em> for your spring semester syllabus. Contest submissions will bedue<strong> Monday, March 11<\/strong> and winners will be announcedthe<strong> week of April 15. We hope you are interested and able to include it in your plans.&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The<strong>\u202f<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.psaid.org\/enter-the-contest\/rules-and-guidelines\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>PSAID website<\/strong><\/a>\u202fhas contest rules and guidelines as well as past winning PSAs, and a video that can be shared with students. Additionally, please find a one-pager with the details <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psaid.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/What-Is-PSAID.pdf\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>. The PSAid contest provides college students the opportunity to get real world experience surrounding a cause that matters while also providing students with materials for their portfolios. This year\u2019s winning PSAs will be featured in students\u2019 hometown\/college papers.
