ABOUT THE BLOC DTLA:<\/strong>
The Bloc is a vibrant, open-air urban center, a growing, inclusive community, a LEED\u2122 certified Gold project, an inflection point in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. Encompassing a full city block along LA\u2019s iconic 7th Street corridor, The Bloc connects the financial, fashion, jewelry, and theater districts \u2013 and the 7th Street Metro Center Station, where four DTLA lines converge. Offering a diverse mix of thoughtfully curated shops, artisans, premier retailers including a Macy\u2019s flagship store, restaurants, bars, open-air green space, and entertainment, The Bloc is also home to the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles Hotel, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, and a 727,000 square-foot, creative-focused office tower. An array of events from live music, dance, and theater performances to art installations, fitness classes, and food and drink tastings welcomes Angelenos and visitors from all walks of life \u2013 and anyone seeking inspiration, community, and connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n


Our ask<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are asking talented artists to visit The Bloc and get the opportunity to turn ordinary recycling bins into works of art. The Bloc has 12 recycling bins throughout the property and to celebrate Earth Day we\u2019d like to wrap each bin with art that you create! Artwork will be on display April 1, 2023 through April 30, 2023. We are asking for a digital file of your art so we may print it and wrap the bins with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Guidelines for art on the recycling bins<\/strong>
\u2022 Relevant to Downtown Los Angeles \/ Earth Day.
\u2022 Creates a visual impact.
\u2022 Something guests will want to take a selfie with.
\u2022 Something guests will remember from their visit.
\u2022 Align with The Bloc\u2019s mission and values.
\u2022 Makes sense with our combination of retailers.
\u2022 Fits the Bloc\u2019s personality.
\u2022 Not political or controversial.
\u2022 Fills the space on a scale that is appropriate for pictures.
Proposal Requirements<\/strong>
\u2022 Samples of your previous work.
\u2022 Your biography.
\u2022 A sketch of the proposed art.
\u2022 An artist statement describing the art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Process<\/strong>
\u2022 Follow guidelines and proposal requirements and submit to bloc@dogandaduck.com
by March 10, 2023.
\u2022 Artist selected to sign a contract with The Bloc<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We will have an honorarium of $1,000 for 12 designs that will be showcased at The Bloc.
