Interested candidates should send their updated CV, resume, and 2-3 references to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:studioassistant@paulacrown.com\">studioassistant@paulacrown.com<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Scope of work:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Support the Painting Director and Artist with painting fabrication and studio maintenance as directed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Studio Assistant Job Description:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Painting (various techniques and styles with acrylic and oil paint)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Mixing colors and making color swatches<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Cleaning brushes and various art supplies<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Light cleaning and maintaining studio organization<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Moving artwork, including packing and unpacking art for shipment<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Light admin: data entry; art supply organization and orders; email and phone correspondence; material and technical research<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Welcoming visitors to the studio when needed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Assistance in exhibition installations<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-BFA (or equivalent professional painting experience)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Foundational painting skills: technical ability and understanding of materials (including but not limited&nbsp;to:oil paint, acrylic paint, varnish, canvas, gesso, stretching processes)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Foundational knowledge of art history and familiarity with contemporary art<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Must be able to lift and move artworks including large paintings<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Professional Skills<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Reliability<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Able to follow instructions with precision and accuracy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Extreme Attention to detail<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Problem-solving skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Self direction; ability to work independently when needed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Adaptability as projects evolve<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-organizational skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-communication skills<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Additional Skills Preferred<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-MFA<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Studio assistant experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Art handling experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Service experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Airbrush experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Encaustic experience<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-Experience working with galleries and exhibitions<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Paula Crown Atelier is currently hiring painting studio assistants for their studio in Palm Desert, CA.
