{"id":7440,"date":"2022-10-12T14:43:13","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T21:43:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7440"},"modified":"2022-10-12T14:43:13","modified_gmt":"2022-10-12T21:43:13","slug":"open-call-for-visual-artists-the-consulate-general-of-mexico-in-la","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7440","title":{"rendered":"Open Call for Visual Artists: The Consulate General of Mexico in LA"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The 2022 edition of 35 x 35 exhibition, will commemorate the 200 Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between Mexico and the US and artists can freely choose the\u00a0theme of their artwork.\u00a0We would like to learn and exhibit artworks that reflect the student&#8217;s interests and \/ or concerns expressed in any of the aforementioned media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>This exhibition seeks to provide a platform to showcase the work of emerging visual artists in Los Angeles, while providing opportunities for creators to meet and interact with other young people and professionals dedicated&nbsp;to the arts. We also aim to provide personal feedback to artists by art experts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The exhibition will be curated by&nbsp;Cecilia V\u00e1zquez, artist and Associate Professor at&nbsp;Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, where she achieved years ago her Masters in Fine Arts, supported by a Fulbright fellowship. Initially inspired by her professors there to teach Art, she has continued to do so since 2001 in both Mexico and the US.&nbsp;Professor V\u00e1zquez has also been a member of the National System of Creators of Art in three occasions in her natal Mexico, where she obtained her BFA from the National Autonomous University, UNAM.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Vazquez will select the best 35 pieces of art submitted by participants to make up the 35 x 35 exhibition of 2022, which will be presented at the Consulate General of Mexico from January &#8211; March 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CALENDAR<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Open call:<\/strong>&nbsp;First week of October 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline to submit art: <\/strong>November 30, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Notification sent to artist on art selection:<\/strong>&nbsp;December 15, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Date of delivery of the work by the artists: <\/strong>December 30, 2022<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Grand Opening:<\/strong>&nbsp;Thursday, January 19, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Visual art exhibition dates:<\/strong>&nbsp;January 19 thru March 2, 2023<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is no entry or participation fee. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants must fill out an application and submit 1 image per job in .jpeg format, 300 dpi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Application link <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/3ebdde39-6f4b-431f-9a73-8590bc96199e.usrfiles.com\/ugd\/3ebdde_eb74b3d3bc88429482bec448074ada73.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">HERE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AWARDS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>-The selection of the work will be based on technical merit, aesthetic quality, creativity and ability to express an issue of interest and concern. It is a place of meeting for emerging and established artists of all nationalities, seeking support for creators, artists and filmmakers.
