{"id":7319,"date":"2022-04-28T14:41:58","date_gmt":"2022-04-28T21:41:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7319"},"modified":"2022-04-28T14:48:20","modified_gmt":"2022-04-28T21:48:20","slug":"the-hammer-museum-is-hiring-student-educators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=7319","title":{"rendered":"The Hammer Museum Student Educator Openings (Undergrad)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Student Educator (Undergraduate)<br><strong>SALARY<\/strong>: $16 hourly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT:<\/strong> The Hammer Museum is looking for UCLA undergraduates from diverse disciplines<br>to serve as Student Educators beginning in September 2022 and working through the 2022-2023 academic year.<br>As the museum\u2019s core teaching staff, Educators lead public and private tours in which visitors of all ages make<br>authentic and personally relevant connections to art, one another, and the world through close looking,<br>dialogue, inquiry, and reflection. Educators also support family programming and may contribute to digital<br>education initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Educators participate in a year-long, paid training program that explores special exhibitions and collections,<br>strategies for leading conversations about works of art, and best practices for engaging different audiences in<br>person and digitally. They are responsible for the entire process of creating a tour, from research to execution,<br>lead an average of three to six tours per month, and engage in special projects including developing lesson plans<br>for a variety of grade levels. By serving as Educators, students gain in-depth knowledge about Hammer<br>exhibitions and collections; acquire experience in the museum and education fields; and improve their research,<br>teaching, and communication skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>HOURS\/DAYS:<\/strong> 3-8 hrs\/week depending on tour schedule (3 office hours each week scheduled between MonFriday 10am-6pm, trainings from 4-6pm every other Friday, plus additional weekday and weekend tour times, as<br>scheduled). Appointment starts mid-September and will run for the full academic year; option to renew.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training and work will be conducted in accordance with UCLA\u2019s COVID-19 policies. Applicants must be available<br>to report to work in person but may occasionally work remotely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>REQUIREMENTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>\u25cf Registered UCLA undergraduate students only.
