The event series will feature a variety of performances (music, dance, spoken word and more), local food and beverage, movies, and interactive activities and installations for students and the community to enjoy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In May, our theme will be Joy Fest, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month and World Laughter Day. UCLA First Thursday: Joy Fest will celebrate the power of joyful moments and the joy that comes through self expression.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are looking for up to 20 student photographers to participate in a student photography exhibit showcasing photographs that depict or express joyful moments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>We understand that joy means different things to different people and we\u2019re looking for your definition of joyful moments and joyful expression through photography.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Participation Details:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Deadline to Submit for Participation:&nbsp;<strong>Thu. Apr 21<\/strong><ul><li>First come, first served<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Info Meeting:&nbsp;<strong>Scheduled between Apr 25 &#8211; Apr 29 (30 min.)<\/strong><\/li><li>Install &amp; Activation Date:&nbsp;<strong>Thu. May 5<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Activation Location:<\/strong><br>UCLA First Thursdays: Joy Fest<br>Thursday, May 5, 2022<br>Broxton Ave between Westwood Blvd &amp; Weyburn Ave<br>6:30-9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Logistics:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Proposals will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis, with no more than 1 image accepted per student.<ul><li><em>We are looking for up to&nbsp;<strong>20 submissions.<\/strong><\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Stipend:<ul><li>$250 per installation, whether it is an individual or group collaboration, inclusive of participation and the budget to create the work itself.<\/li><li>After the event, the framed photograph is yours to keep.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The photographs will be displayed outdoors on freestanding gallery walls with a plaque description of your inspiration.<ul><li><em>Specific placement onsite will be selected by the production team.<\/em><\/li><li><em>Upon approval, artist names, bios and social handles will be displayed with each submission.<\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Installation and removal will be supported by the production team.<ul><li><em>Specific timing for both will be scheduled on an individual basis prior to the event.<\/em><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>There will be UCLA photographers and videographers documenting the student experiences and art work at the event.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to participate:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>To participate, please send an email to\u00a0<strong>Noheli Viramontes at\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:nviramontes@stratcomm.ucla.edu\">nviramontes@stratcomm.ucla.edu<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and<br><strong>Anne Marie Burke at\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"mailto:aburke@arts.ucla.edu\"><strong>aburke@arts.ucla.edu<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0with the following questions answered:<ul><li>1.
