Our goal is to make these collections accessible to historians, curators, and generations of enthusiasts to come.<\/p>\n<p>The Getty Marrow Digital Collections and Research Intern will work directly with the Curator and Collections Manager to support\u00a0a long-term project to digitize, describe,\u00a0and make accessible\u00a0the Corita Art Center\u2019s archival materials, including a collection\u00a0of over 15,000 35mm slides\u00a0and other records documenting Corita Kent\u00a0and the Immaculate Heart College\u00a0during the decades of the 50s and 60s.\u00a0This project will include conducting research and drafting historical notes and summaries on the artist\u2019s commissions, exhibitions, and artworks as well as updating biographical information. The Intern will also support with the\u00a0general\u00a0organization and management of the Corita Art Center\u2019s art and archival collections,\u00a0including\u00a0ongoing data\u00a0entry\u00a0in CAC\u2019s Filemaker Pro database and online collections page. This work may also include the physical handling, relocation, and condition assessment of artworks and archival materials on-site.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>General responsibilities will include:<\/strong> counting\u00a0and\u00a0labeling\u00a035mm slides and recording file names in a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet;\u00a0conducting research on Corita Kent and the Immaculate Heart College using both the CAC\u2019s research materials and external resources;\u00a0reviewing and updating Filemaker Pro database records\u00a0and biographical information; reviewing and updating corita.org collections page.\u00a0The intern may occasionally\u00a0work with the Communications and Design Intern, conducting, collections research to produce\u00a0digital content\u00a0for social media and other outlets.\u00a0The Intern will also be expected to partake in weekly team meetings with all CAC staff.<\/p>\n<p>Ideal candidates will have a background and interest in an art history, library science, or fine arts; excellent writing and communication skills; experience and passion for performing research using libraries, archives, and other online sources; experience with Microsoft Office and Google G Suite.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>&#x200d;Be of an underrepresented group in visual arts and museum-related professions, including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latino\/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent;<\/li>\n<li>Be currently enrolled undergraduates. Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters of college by June 2021. Students who graduated after April 1, 202 1 are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.<\/li>\n<li>Reside or attend college in Los Angeles County;\u00a0<em>and<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a \u201cgreen card\u201d holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are also eligible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Terms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The internship is a full-time (35 hours\/week) position with a salary of $6,000 for a consecutive ten-week work period\u00a0<strong>starting June 7 and ending August 13<\/strong>.
