{"id":5963,"date":"2018-09-21T12:55:13","date_gmt":"2018-09-21T19:55:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.art.ucla.edu\/jobs\/?p=5963"},"modified":"2018-09-21T12:55:13","modified_gmt":"2018-09-21T19:55:13","slug":"fine-arts-program-specialist-mgt-21035-job-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jobs.art.ucla.edu\/?p=5963","title":{"rendered":"Fine Arts Program Specialist (MGT)-21035 Job Opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Primary Location<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0DC-Washington<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employee Status<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Regular<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overtime Status<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Exempt<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Type<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Standard<\/p>\n<p><strong>Travel<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0No<\/p>\n<p><strong>Shift<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Day Job<\/p>\n<p><strong>Years of Experience Required:<\/strong>\u00a03<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education Required:<\/strong>\u00a0Master&#8217;s or Equivalent Exp.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Relocation Provided:<\/strong>\u00a0Yes<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary Grade Low:<\/strong>\u00a023<\/p>\n<p><strong>Posting Date<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Sep 16, 2018<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Incumbent will be a skilled museum professional who provides administrative, technical, and supervisory expertise to the Fine Arts Program Director in the daily management and operation of the Fine Arts Program and its collection by executing curatorial duties and collection management duties.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Essential Duties<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Researches and identifies topics for special exhibitions, including the artists and artwork in the collection, and prepares written materials.<\/li>\n<li>Prepares wall labels for objects on view, works with editors and graphic designers on the final production of labels, and installs labels.<\/li>\n<li>Prepares exhibition catalogs, including research, writing, editing, and working with editors, graphic designers, and the print shop.<\/li>\n<li>Plans, supervises, and coordinates the annual staff art show.<\/li>\n<li>Prepares loan agreement forms and deeds of gift.<\/li>\n<li>Responsible for planning Fine Arts Program events for outside guests, which includes maintaining mailing lists and attendee lists, registering visitors, designing and printing invitations, and working with Food Svcs &amp; Conference Facility Mgt staff.<\/li>\n<li>Develops and presents in-house gallery talks. Recommends and coordinates off-site tours of local art galleries for Board staff, and conducts the tours.<\/li>\n<li>Performs general office duties, such as answering correspondence, administering paperwork, maintaining program files, monitoring and answering program voice mail and email, registering visitors, and taking notes at meetings.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Requirements<\/em>:<br \/>\nRequires a master&#8217;s degree in Museum Studies, Art History, or American Studies with at least three years of experience working in a museum, art gallery, or similar object-based environments. Able to be an independent thinker and decision maker. Must have expertise in exhibition planning and implementation, safe handling of artworks, basic preventative conservation practices, as well as knowledge of collection management software, preferably Past Perfect 5, and Microsoft Office. Demonstrated commitment to a strong customer service philosophy required, and ability to interact effectively with all levels of Board personnel as well as visitors to the Board. Work will be performed in all of the Board\u2019s owned &amp; leased properties.<\/p>\n<p>The incumbent will work 32 hours per week. Work will be performed during the Board&#8217;s customary working hours, which are 7:00 a.m. through 6:00 p.m., Monday &#8211; Friday.
