RAIR<\/span><\/b><\/a><\/span> is pleased to announce the <\/span><\/b>open call for applications<\/span><\/b><\/a><\/span> for the 2019 residency season. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

RAIR is a non-profit arts organization uniquely situated within a construction and demolition recycling center in Northeast Philadelphia. RAIR\u2019s residency program provides artists on-site access to recovered materials and a studio space to produce work. The RAIR workspace includes a large project space, wood shop equipment, metalworking facilities, access to the waste stream for materials, and a material storage area. Artists in residence receive attentive support from RAIR’s staff who act as liaisons between the artist and the recycling facility. In addition to providing artists on-site access to recovered materials, construction equipment, and a fully-equipped studio space, RAIR\u2019s Residency Program offers artists the opportunity to use the entire 3.5-acre facility as an expansive project space for the development and presentation of ambitious experimental work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Applications for 2019 residencies will close on October 31, 2018 @ 11:59pm. Applicants will be notified by Jan 1, 2019.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Thanks to a generous grant from <\/span>The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts<\/span><\/a><\/span> we are excited to offer stipends to the 2019 artists-in-residence! Each resident will receive an honorarium of $600 and financial assistance for travel and housing. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year\u2019s application jury panel\u2014 <\/span>Abigail DeVille<\/span><\/a><\/span>, <\/span>Denise Markonish<\/span><\/a><\/span>, and <\/span>Lisa Sigal<\/span><\/a><\/span>\u2014 will be selecting the 2019 artists-in-residence and providing studio visits to those artists to provide critical peer feedback. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We are also excited to announce the newly established\u00a0<\/span>RAIR Fellowship Residency<\/span><\/a><\/span>. The fellowship is a fully funded residency awarded, outside of the open call, to one artist per year. Fellows are given project management and logistics assistance from the RAIR staff and they are able to customize the structure of their residency throughout the year. The Fellowship Residency offers artists a more intensive experience to assist in the development of new work. This year, NYC sculptor <\/span>Dave Hardy<\/span><\/a><\/span>, was selected as the inaugural Fellow in the RAIR Fellowship Residency program. <\/span><\/p>\n
