We are currently accepting submissions for our annual open call, and would like to share the application information with the UCLA student community.<\/p>\n
Each chosen billboard is accompanied by a supplement which serves to bring the artists\u2019 work into the public sphere. Previous projects have included an artist talk at the International Center of Photography, a collaboration with New York City Housing Authority residents, and classes taught at Casita Maria Center for Arts and Education, among others. Although we are based in New York, several previous artists have not been local, and we can incorporate innovative ideas from individuals in other locations.<\/p>\n
Every year we strive to push the boundaries of how public art can exist and who it can serve. We are looking forward to this year\u2019s submissions, and want to extend this opportunity to the next generation of artistic talent.<\/p>\n

\n14×48 repurposes vacant billboards as public art space in order to create more opportunities in public art for emerging artists, to challenge emerging artists to engage more with public art, and to enliven the vibrancy of our urban environment.<\/p>\n
\n14×48 invites you to submit a proposal for a billboard project according to the guidelines below.
\n\u2022Proposals must include an original work of art that can be printed and installed on an outdoor billboard.
\n\u2022Please include an image or sketch of your plan for the billboard, a brief written description of the project, a proposed timeline to completion, examples of past work (public art experience is not necessary), and any relevant professional experience.
\n\u2022In your proposal, we encourage you to include an additional component (such as workshops, recordings, performance etc.) that complements the project.
\n\u2022Please review past 14×48 projects before submitting your application.
\n\u2022The exact billboard location in New York City cannot be determined in advance.
\n\u2022Proposals can be submitted at www.14×48.org\/open-call-submission<\/a> no later than June 4th, 2017 at 11:59pm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
