Residential Life Student Event Technicians Application – OPEN!

Residential Life is hiring for our student technician position (Event Technicians) for the 2023-2024 academic year. This position supports classes, dances, concerts, and other events in the residential community. 

Starting wage: $16.50/hr

Under the supervision of the Program and Event Management (PEM) professional staff, Event Technicians (ET) provide technical support for Residential Life events, including educational classes and experiences, residential programming, and staff activities.

 Requirements for All PEM Student Staff

  • Setup, execute, and strike events, classes, and meetings as directed.
  • Operate tech equipment for events, classes, and meetings including audio mixers, PA systems, wired and wireless microphones, laptops, projectors, DVD and Blu-Ray players, gaming consoles, and lighting
  • Understand venues and basic controls, including touch panels and lighting
  • Undertake administrative office tasks
  • Assist with management, inventory, and replacement of Residential Life programming equipment
  • Demonstrate professionalism and work with positive intent by providing a high level of customer service and provide general support to student and professional staff events and activities. Work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Observe and enforce all campus safety procedures and Residential Life rules and regulations
  • Need to provide a minimum commitment of 10 work hours per week.
  • Meet 1:1 with professional staff supervisor at least once a quarter
  • Check email and online Residential Life systems regularly for important information, updates, announcements, and general staff communication.
  • Show skill in the use of Microsoft Office software and the ability to learn other software platforms
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs
  • Identify and resolve event issues that arise
  • Participate in scheduled training sessions (including Fall and Winter training)
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Shifts may not total more than 39.75 hours per biweekly pay period, unless you have work study in which case  shifts should not exceed 19.5 hours per week.
  • Ability to operate University owned electric vehicles
