Paula Crown Atelier is currently hiring painting studio assistants for their studio in Palm Desert, CA. The ideal candidate would be a skilled artist and painter looking for an engaging day-job. Scope of work:
-Support the Painting Director and Artist with painting fabrication and studio maintenance as directed
Studio Assistant Job Description:
-Painting (various techniques and styles with acrylic and oil paint)
-Mixing colors and making color swatches
-Cleaning brushes and various art supplies
-Light cleaning and maintaining studio organization
-Moving artwork, including packing and unpacking art for shipment
-Light admin: data entry; art supply organization and orders; email and phone correspondence; material and technical research
-Welcoming visitors to the studio when needed
-Assistance in exhibition installations
Requirements:
-BFA (or equivalent professional painting experience)
-Foundational painting skills: technical ability and understanding of materials (including but not limited to:oil paint, acrylic paint, varnish, canvas, gesso, stretching processes)
-Foundational knowledge of art history and familiarity with contemporary art
-Must be able to lift and move artworks including large paintings
