SENATE ASSISTANT (One position available: Work Study Job # 5350-1)

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Academic Senate is seeking one (1) student assistant to support office functions and projects. The duties of this position include, but are not limited to, adding data to spreadsheets, conducting basic research, organizing electronic documents, proofreading written materials, preparing correspondence, providing support for Academic Senate meetings, updating the Academic Senate website, creating graphic designs, and processing awards applications. Working hours for Summer Sessions A and C will average 10–15 hours per week.

The Academic Senate is the vehicle through which the faculty share in the governance of the University through participation in its standing committees. www.senate.ucla.edu

QUALIFICATIONS

1)  Proactive, dependable, and highly organized.

2)  Skills in working independently and collaboratively with others.

3)  Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

4)  Strong communication skills, including drafting documents and proofreading.

5)  Strong attention to detail.

6)  Interest in learning new technology. Web-editing experience is preferred but not required.

7)  Ability to work in a diverse workplace.

HIRING AND PAYMENT DETAILS

1)  Pay is $15.00 / hour.

2)  Employment period is June 27 through September 18, 2021, with a strong possibility of

continuing through the 2021–22 academic year for high-performing assistants.

3)  Work Study strongly preferred. (NOTE: Work study is part of the financial aid package. Contact Financial Aid if you are not sure if you have work study.)

4)  Hours are scheduled between 8 AM and 5 PM, Monday through Friday.

5)  Position is fully remote.
